An osteopath focuses on your whole body, including the soft tissues (such as muscles, ligaments and tendons), the spine and nervous system, and may use a variety of different hands-on methods depending on your problems. These techniques aim to reduce pain, improve movement and encourage blood flow.
Everyone responds to osteopathic manipulation differently. You may feel sore for a day or two after treatment. Some people feel tired after OMT. Others feel energized.
After Each Session you should do,
1) Drink plenty of water: Staying hydrated allows toxins to flush out of your muscles after treatment.
2) Go for a walk: A short walk helps your body “settle in” or adjust to the proper alignment and balance.
3) Take it easy: Avoid rigorous physical activity for 24 hours after OMT. Focus on breathing and allowing your body time to rest.
